Sue was one of six children born to William and Hazel Copeland on January 2, 1937 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. She married Frank Gilbert in 1964 and they moved to Pace to raise their 5 children; Bobby, Chuck, Debbie, Joanie and Frankie. Sue was a member of Pace Pentecostal Church. In 1990, she retired after twenty-seven years, from Baxter Healthcare. With a real zest for life, a woman of faith and the heart of her family, Sue shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Possessing a true servant's heart, Sue faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking/baking from scratch, sewing and embroidery. She possessed a contagious smile, an entertaining sense of humor and when playing Canasta, her competitiveness allowed no one to stand in her way of winning. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing of love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her smiles, laughter, and humor will never be forgotten, especially with her children and grandchildren.
Sue's strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family and friends, carried her through loosing her parents, William and Hazel Copeland; husband, Frank Gilbert; two sons, Chuck Foster and Frankie Gilbert; daughter, Joanie Johns; brother, Billy Copeland and three sisters, Joyce Hicks, Joann Whitted and Patsy Boles.
