Annie Jo Bruce

CLEVELAND - Annie Jo Howell McGovern Bruce, age 92, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at the Bolivar Medical Center Long Term Care Unit.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2019, from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland.  Funeral Services will follow 03:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be at the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Steve McMillon will officiate the service.

Annie was born on February 13, 1927, to Leroy and Marie (Tucker) Howell in Philadelphia, MS. She attended the Merigold Schools. Annie worked at Baxter Laboratories for 19 years and also owned and operated McGovern's Grocery Store.  She was married to the late Leo McGovern and Charles Bruce.  Annie was a loving Mother who enjoyed raising her children, cooking, working in her flower and vegetable garden. She always welcomed everyone to her house at Christmas time. She also enjoyed working with Meals on Wheels. 

She is survived by Daughter, Janice Sue White of Cleveland, MS. Twin sister, Johnnie Howell Powell, Two brothers, Dorsey Howell of Cleveland, MS, Earl Howell of Summerfield, FL. Two grandchildren, Stephanie (Tommy) Longale, and Tammy (Eddie) Burton. Great-grandchildren, Madison Longale, Peyton Longale (Conner) Carpenter, Colby Burton, Eli Burton, and Luke Burton. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly to cherish her memory.

Pallbearers are Allan Howell, Shane Howell, Madison Longale, and Eddie Burton.

Honorary pallbearers are Conner Carpenter, John Allan Howell, and Austin McLamore.
