Athel Aaron Doty, aged 90, of Greenville, MS, peacefully passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at his home in Greenville.
The visitation to honor Athel's memory will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at The River Pentecostal Church in Greenville. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Military Honor Guard rights will be performed by Columbus Air Force Base and The Patriot Guard Riders as a tribute to Athel's remarkable service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Reverend Jonathan Chase Oltremari will officiate the services.
Athel was born on November 8, 1933, to Fred D. Doty and Mae Chaney Doty in Fairfield, OK. He bravely joined the Army Air Force in Tulsa OK in 1951 and valiantly served his country in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After dedicating 21 years of his life to military service, Athel retired. Subsequently, he embarked on a career with England Motor Company and later became the proud owner and operator of Doty Lawn Care for several years.
Athel possessed a lighthearted nature and was known for playing practical jokes on his friends and family. He found joy in fishing trips, hunting excursions, and rounds of golf with his loved ones.
Athel now reunites with his parents Fred and Mae Doty, his brothers Carl E. Doty, Ralph D. Doty, George F. Doty, Clifton D. Doty, Clevern K. Doty, Herbert J. Doty, and numerous other cherished ones who have passed before him.
He leaves behind fond memories for his spouse of 28 years Joan Kirkland Doty of Greenville, MS; daughter Kinslie Doty of Greenville; daughter Diane Hall of Wichita, KS; grandchildren Brian Hashbarger, Mike Hashbarger, LaDonna Ibrahim, and Donnita Hashbarger; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Jeff Therrell, William Johnson, Tony Oltremari, Ken Doty, Brian Hashbarger, Chance Ray, and Ted Williams will serve as pallbearers to honor Athel's life.

The arrangements for the service have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home.
