Barbara Harper Meehan

CLEVELAND - Barbara Joan Harper Meehan, age 93, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday October 03, 2013 at the Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland.
The family will receive friends Sunday 10/06/2013 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Personal Care Home in Cleveland 800 3rd Street Cleveland, MS. Memorial Mass service will follow at 2:00 PM at Cleveland Personal Care Home. Father Kent Bowlds will officiate the service.
Barbara was born on April 26, 1920 to Dufferin and Alice (Byrne) Harper in New Brunswick Canada. She attended schools in Nova Scotia and later moved to New Orleans after WW II. Barbara was a retired realtor for Gertrude Gardner Real Estate Company in New Orleans, LA. She was an accomplished realtor having become a designated Million Dollar Agent. She was a life long member of the Catholic Church. Barbara enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was an incredible artist. She loved bird watching and journal keeping. Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved God, family and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband John William Meehan, Jr., two sisters; Mona Charbonnet and Doreen Harper. Two brothers; James Durfferin and Donal Byrne Harper and a Son John William Harper III.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Michael Meehan of New Orleans, LA. Two granddaughters; Jennifer Harper Meehan of Auburn, ME and Kristen E. Meehan of Vicksburg, MS. Three grandsons; John W. "Jack" Meehan, IV of Long Beach, MS., Charles F. Meehan of Long Beach, MS. and Collin Harper Meehan of Vicksburg, MS. Two great grandchildren Courtney Meehan and Madison Meehan and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the United Way of West Central Mississippi 920 South Street Vicksburg, MS 39180 or a charity of the donor's choice.
Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
