Bessie Marie Russell

SHELBY- Bessie Marie Russell age 68 of Shelby, Mississippi formerly of Rosedale, Mississippi passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, Mississippi.

A visitation for Bessie will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Cleveland Funeral Home. Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Beulah Cemetery in Beulah, MS.

Bessie was born November 11, 1952, to Sanford Ed Grisham, Sr., and Vivian Ozella Wiggins Grisham in Cleveland, Mississippi. She grew up in Rosedale, Mississippi, and attended Rosedale Schools. She was married to Charles Russell. Bessie was a former line worker for Amco in Rosedale for over 20 years, she then became employed as a farmhand for Pete Robertson Farms. Bessie loved to play bingo, slot machines, fish and cut her grass, and tend to her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sanford and Vivian Grisham, her husband Charles Russell, sisters, Ruby McDowell, and Maxine Hurst, brothers, Miller Hurst, and James Hurst.

Bessie is survived by her daughters, Karen Ross (Lewis) of Rosedale, MS, and Tunja Mangam of Tennessee, four sisters, Sandra Rue of St. Francesville, LA, Billie Jean Still of Pensacola, FL, Patricia Gibson of Ruleville, MS, and Wanda Ballard of Texarkana, AR, three brothers, George Hurst of Woodsville, TX, Johnny Clyde Hurst of Oklahoma, Sanford Ed Grisham, Jr., of Cleveland, MS, 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
