Betty Naron Barrett age 83 of Cleveland, MS passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Walter B Crook Nursing Home in Ruleville, MS.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Thursday, September 1, 2022, at First Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Eugene Heimbach will officiate the services.
Betty was born November 13, 1938, to Eph Naron and Eva May Jett Watkins in Cleveland, MS. She grew up in Cleveland and Graduated from Cleveland High School. Betty married Walter Thomas Barrett, Jr. on June 1, 1958, at the Cleveland First Baptist Church. Betty began her career in banking in 1956 with Cleveland State Bank where she remained for 57 years until her retirement in 2003. Even after retirement, she remained a part-time employee until 2013. Betty loved to travel, play bridge, love on her children and grandchildren, and her church, First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eph Naron and Eva Mae Watkins, Stepmother, Irene Naron, son, Ronald "Ronny" Williford Barrett, and brother Billy Naron.
Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years Walter Thomas "Tommy" Barrett, Jr. of Cleveland, MS, sons, Walter Thomas "Tommy" Barrett III (Sheila) of Grenada, MS, and James "Jimmy" Naron Barrett (Natalie) of Memphis, TN, daughter in law, Lisa Barrett of Plantersville, MS. sister in law Peggy Barrett of Cleveland, Ms, brother Tommy Naron (Memorie) of Cleveland, MS, sister in law, Linda Naron of Cleveland, MS, 11 grandchildren Amanda Armas (Omar), Bradley Barrett, Brent Barrett (Hannah), Brooke Barrett (Haley), Jamie Barrett Smith (Jace), Heather Barrett, Brianna Barrett, Jessica Barrett, Emily Barrett, Isaac Miller, Vivian Miller and 9 great-grandchildren Mary Bradlie Barrett, Joshua Barrett, Joseph Barrett, Kohen Barrett, Kollins Barrett, Mae Whitley Smith, Ivy Armas, Lila Armas, and Tori Armas.
Pallbearers are Wiley Hilburn, Danny Whalen, Brent Barrett, Bradley Barrett, Bill Griffith, and Jace Smith. Honorary bearers are Buddy Ware, Jerry Bullock, and the Patsy Reese Sunday School Class.
