WEST - Betty Jean Medders Murphy Bowen, age 72, of West, MS passed away on Monday December 12, 2016 at her home.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from Noon until 2:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the North Cleveland Cemetery. Rev. Rick Milan will officiate the services.

Betty was born on November 29, 1944 to James and Tommie(McKnight) Medders in Choctaw County, MS.  She married Robert A. "Bob" Murphy and later James "Bubba" Bowen. She was a member of Boyle Baptist Church. Betty retired from Baxter Healthcare as a lab technician. Betty loved her dog Hollie as well as many others. She loved being out in the woods and spending time with her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents James Dillard "J.D." Medders and Tommie Ethel McKnight Medders, her husband, Robert "Bob" Murphy, her brothers Douglas Medders and James Thomas Medders, her sisters Nellie Faye Burden and Charlene Rushing.

Betty is survived by Spouse, James "Bubba" Bowen of West, MS; Son, James "Bubba" Murphy (Brandy) of Boyle, MS; Daughter, Tammy (Johnny) Rodgers of Boyle, MS; Daughter, Debbie Olmi of Germantown, MS;  Sister, Thelma Painter of Timberlake, NC;  Sister, Ann Patridge of Eupora, MS; Sister, Pearl Ahearn of Clarksville, TN;  Sister, Ethelene Hodges of Eupora, MS;  Sister, Eara Bell Hallford of Daleville, AL;  Brother, Clyde Medders of Eupora, MS;  Brother, Rayburn Medders of Eupora, MS; Her dog--Hollie; Grandchildren: Matthew Colin Rodgers, Robert "Rob" Murphy, Rebecca Elizabeth Murphy, Terry Blake Weaver, Lindsey Brooke Lawson and Ethan Conner Olmi and 7 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Grimmett, Buddy Lowery, Terry Weaver, Galen Williams, Paul Carter and Rob Murphy. Honorary pallbearer will be Matthew Colin Rodgers.
