Betty Ann Murray Howell
Betty Ann (Murray) Howell, 77, of Cleveland, MS died September 11, 2013, at the Bolivar Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Cleveland Funeral Home with the Dr. Steve Huber officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with Funeral following at 10:00 am in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at North Cleveland Cemetery
Ms. Howell was born on September 17, 1935 in Charleston, SC to Arthur M. and Mary Lucille Walters Murray. She joined Citadel Square Baptist Church in 1946 at age eleven, and was a 1953 graduate of Rivers High School in Charleston, where she was active in sports. She married and moved to Cleveland, Mississippi in 1956, where she lived her adult life and raised her four children. She attended MDCC and retired from Mississippi State Department of Rehabilitation Services, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation after twenty years of service. She was a past member of National Rehabilitation Association of MMRC. She was interested in yard work, genealogy and history.
Survivors include George T. Wilson, husband, and Frances Wilson Sanders best friend. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her four children; daughter, Lori Jean (Howell) Simmons of Cleveland, and sons; Rodney Durell Howell (Cheri Cowart) of Vicksburg, MS, Larry Dewayne Howell (Marsha Price) of Jemison, AL, and Bradford "Brad" Collins Howell (Kari Leger) of Greenville, MS. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Sue (Murray) Hicks of West Columbia, SC, and brothers, Perry "Lenwood" Murray of Vance, S.C. and Daniel Wayne Murray of North Charleston, SC. Other survivors are her grandchildren; Sallie Anne Simmons (Caitlyn Himmighoefer), Hamilton "Hamp" Clarence Simmons, Mallory Lynn (Howell) Henley (Brody), Brooke Elizabeth Howell, Brian Collins Howell, and Taylor Collins Howell. She had one great grandson, Archie "Daylon" Henley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Clarence Simmons.
Pallbearers are Hamp Simmons, Brian Howell, Taylor Howell, Brody Henley, Phil Campbell, and Larry Harkins.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donors choice.
