Billy Dean Nassar age 83 of Leland MS passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville MS.
Visitation for Mr. Nassar will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Bob Hill and Reverend Jon Doler will officiate the service.
Billy was born January 13, 1938, to Manuel and Eloise Faulkner Nassar in Shelby MS. He graduated from LSU Law Enforcement School in 1964 and worked at the Clarksdale Police Dept. until moving to Shelby in 1965, where he operated Nassar DX service station with his father. He also served as a constable in northern Bolivar County until going full time for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the MS National Guard for 16 years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after serving as Postmaster of Merigold, Shelby, and Leland.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Eloise Nassar, brothers Robert “Buddy” Nassar and James “Sonny” Nassar.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Dorothy Ann Tackett Nassar of Leland MS, sons, Billy Dean Nassar, Jr. (Nancy) of Merigold MS, David Manuel Nassar of Merigold MS, JeffreyStuart “Jeff” Nassar (Denise) of Searcy AR, and Grandson Brandon K. Nassar (Megan Holifield) of Greenville MS.
