Cheryll Ann Hummel Carpenter, age 71, of Cleveland, MS, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Cleveland Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Linn Methodist Church Cemetery.
Robert Keith will conduct the service.
Cheryll was born February 4, 1951, to Alfred William Hummel and Gracie Marie Reeves Hummel in Nebraska City, NE. Cheryll was a licensed LPN who had worked for several area hospitals and nursing homes until her retirement. She had also worked as a nurse in the National Guard. She married Henry Carpenter Jr. in 1987, after moving to Mississippi. Cheryll loved to play games, crossword puzzles, watch movies, read books, catalog shop, and collect whatnots.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred William and Gracie Marie Hummel; husband of 34 years, Henry Carpenter, Jr.; father-in-law, Henry Carpenter, Sr.; brother-in-law James Carpenter and several nieces.
Cheryll is survived by her sister, Sue Harris of Auburn, NE; brother, Charles Hummel (Emily) of Auburn, NE; mother-in-law, Alene Carpenter and sister-in-law Tracey Keith (Robert); nieces, Samantha Thompson, Rachel Koenig (Adam), Angela Hoover (Chad), Emily Kendall (Ben), Mallory Jackson (Andrew), Madison Mattingly, Jaiden Keith, and a nephew Keenan Webb. She also leaves several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins to cherish her memory.
Pallbearers are Andrew Jackson, Frank Caldwell, Charlie Kendall, Everette Carpenter, Casey Carpenter and Anthony Mosconi.
