Cynthia Blount Thomas

Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Blount Thomas, born on August 27, 1955, passed away Saturday, February 22, 202,5 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sheri Gentry of Oxford, MS; son, Jason (Elizabeth) Bassie of Cleveland, MS; sister, Brenda Blount of Oxford, MS; brother, Mike (Helen) Blount of Cropwell, AL; niece, Candice Dill of Oxford, MS; nephew, Michael Blount of Huntsville, AL; as well as her cherished granddaughter, Braelyn Gentry, granddaughters, Haley and Hannah Bassie, and grandson, Jack Kossman, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Lee Blount; father, Cecil Blount; sister, Kathy Dill; infant brother, Cecil Blount, Jr.; and her husband, Mike Thomas.

Throughout her life, Cindy was known for her selflessness and dedication to serving others. Always putting the needs of those around her first, she encouraged everyone to walk in faith and never met a stranger. Her nurturing spirit was evident in her profession as a nurse; she graduated from LPN school in 1980 and went on to complete her RN degree in 1987 at MDCC in Moorhead. In 2011, she realized her dream of founding her own healthcare company, Elder Aide Homemaker Services, where she developed deep bonds with her patients and homemakers, who she considered family.

Cindy had an immense capacity for love, exemplifying the Christ-like values she admired. Known for her generosity, she delighted in selecting unique gifts for others, sharing her abundant love with those fortunate enough to know her. She was immensely proud of her family and treasured her role as a Meme and Meemaw, a title she embraced wholeheartedly.

Cynthia Lynn Blount Thomas will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and boundless love for her family and community. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. A celebration of life funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in North Cleveland Cemetery. Her step-son Reverend Chris Gentry will officiate the services.
