Elizabeth Inez Sherwood, age 91, died May 15, 2012 at Bolivar Medical Center, Cleveland MS. Inez was a long time resident of Cleveland. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Cleveland Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 - 3 p.m. and funeral service immediately following. Burial will be at Lehrton Cemetery, Ruleville. Reverend Tommy Stacy will perform the service. She was born to Richard and Zella Stacy on April 14, 1921. Inez was lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, Past President Mississippi VFW Auxiliary and Past President of the Southern Region VFW Auxiliary. She received numerous awards during her 50 years of Service. She was very active in the community especially her dedication to the seniors in Long Term Care Facilities. You could always spot her in a crowd as she would be the one wearing Red, White and Blue and holding an American Flag. She was preceded in death by husband Lawson Sherwood, sons Lawson Sherwood Jr., Joe Sherwood, Sisters Earline Gibson and Verdie Bowman and brother Bobby Stacy. Inez is survived by daughter Dolores "Sissy" Steiger (Bill), sons George Sherwood (Paula), Steve Sherwood (June), Raymond Sherwood (Tobey). She is survived by her sisters Lucy Walker, Leona Bowman, Lena Herandez (Joe), Sue Balducci, Jo McArthur (Dolan), Judy Mosley (Ronnie), Patsy Cobb (Danny), Linda Stacy and brothers Richard Stacy (Edna Lane) and Tommy Stacy (Janice). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brandon Sherwood, Brian Sherwood, Danny Soliz, Dr. Whitfield Roberts, Tommy Whatley, and Clay McKee. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Sherwood, Stewart Sherwood, Stephen Sherwood, Patrick Bryson and Nathan Woodward. Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
