Emily S. Vickers

In loving memory of Emily Woodward Shults Vickers, age 82, who departed this world on February 21, 2025, at the West Point Community Health Care in West Point, MS.

Emily was born on October 8, 1942, in the serene surroundings of Lafayette County, Mississippi, to Joseph William Shults, Jr. and Annie Goolsby Shults. She spent her formative years in Lafayette County, where her passion for education blossomed. Emily proudly earned a master's degree in Elementary Education from the esteemed University of Mississippi, committing herself to nurturing and shaping young minds. Her teaching career at Cumberland Elementary School was marked by dedication and a profound impact on her students. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Emily possessed a remarkable talent for art and was a devoted mother, embodying warmth and care in every facet of her life. Her faith as a member of the Baptist community provided her with strength and guidance throughout her journey.

Emily is preceded in death by her beloved parents her brother, Joseph William Shults, III, and her sister, JoAnne S. Billingsly. She leaves behind a legacy cherished by many, including her son, Hilary Patrick Vickers of Bono, AR, and her brother, William Pleasant Marshall of Lynchburg, VA.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, honoring the indelible spirit and life of Emily Vickers, whose love and kindness will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
