Emmett Thompson Jr.

Cleveland- Emmett Thompson Jr. of Cleveland, MS passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

 

Visitation for Mr. Thompson will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at Cleveland Funeral Home on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 12:00 PM with burial to follow at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville. Bro. Ken Harris and Bro. Max Weldon will officiate the services.

 

Emmett was born April 15, 1948, to Emmett Thompson Sr. and Corrine Tyson Thompson in Ruleville, MS. Emmett married the love of his life on July 27, 1968. He went to work for Baxter for 29 years until retiring. After he left Baxter’s, he then went to work for Nissan Motors of America for six years as a maintenance technician. Emmett loved to spend time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also loved to play his guitar and sing at his church. Emmett’s favorite thing to do, however, was to spend time with his grands and great grands. Emmett was a very helpful person, never afraid to lend a helping hand.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Thompson, Sr., and his mother, Corrine Tyson Thompson. Son-in-law Jerry Nance, and Grandson, Shayne “Brother” Harrison.

 

Emmett is survived by his loving wife Sandra Kay Thompson. Daughters, Sandra Kay Nance of Cleveland, Nikki Denise Harrison of Cleveland, MS., Andrea Louren Thompson (Keith)  of Cleveland, MS., and his loving K9 companion Sassy Thompson, Son, Jason Paul (Memorie)Thompson of Cleveland, MS., Sister, Brenda West of Ruleville, MS., Sister-in-law, Tobey (Raymond) Sherwood of Cleveland, Ms., and Brother-in-law, Charles Edward Smith Jr. of Rosedale, Ms. Emmett also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brittney Townsend (Lee) of Olive Branch, MS., Courtney Thomas Staples (Daniel) of Cleveland, MS., Adrienne Lance (Brent) of Olive Branch, MS., Kristan Williams (Stefan) of Flowood MS., Jason Jackson (Theresa) of Cleveland, MS., Max Nance (Jade) of Coldwater, MS., Jaxten Milum of Cleveland, MS., Matthew Thompson of Cleveland, Ms., Skylar Cole of Cleveland, MS., Alivia Thompson of Cleveland, Ms., and Addie Staples of Cleveland, MS. Emmett leaves behind his Great Grand Children, Addie, Jamye, Claire, Kenley, Lexi, William, Trace, Fyscher, Sailor, Laidon, Braylen, Mason, Maddox, John Thomas, Ella, Emma, Emily, Emmett, Brevan, and Luca.  

 

Pallbearers will be Jaxten Milum, Matthew Thompson, Jason Jackson, Nathan Woodward, Pat Weeks, and BJ Horne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Max Nance, Lee Townsend, Brent Lance, Stefan Williams, Daniel Staples, and Shayne “Brother” Harrison.

 

Memorials can be made to Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital at 2500 N State St, Jackson, MS 39216, or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN 38105
