Gary Franklin Haney

Mr. Gary Franklin Haney age 82 of Batesville, MS formerly of Cleveland, MS passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Azalea Commons Assisted Living Center in Batesville, MS.

Gary was born November 28, 1941, in Cleveland, MS  to Thomas Franklin Haney and Erline Shurden Haney. He grew up in Ruleville, MS, and graduated from Ruleville High School, he went on to further his education receiving an associate degree from Mississippi Delta Community College and also attended Mississippi State University. He married Linda Sue Britt on December 1, 1967. He went to work with Mississippi Power and Light where he worked for 33 years and retired from Entergy. Gary loved to cook crawfish for everyone, work on air conditioners, hang out with his friends and play dominos. He attended Ruleville Baptist Church before moving to Batesville to be near family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Erline Haney, and his wife Linda Britt Haney.

Gary is survived by his Daughters, Melissa Haney (Stan) Sullivant of Batesville, MS, and Teressa Haney of Cleveland, MS. Three granddaughters; Sydney Claire Sullivant Ashley (Ryan), Erin Oakes, and Olivia Oakes. Great grandchildren Audrey and Alan Ashley. Sister Gwen Boyer (Tully) of Brandon, MS, 2 brothers; Terry Haney (Margaret) of Jonesboro, AR, and Jimmy Haney (Diane) of Ruleville, MS.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Cleveland Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Lehrton cemetery in Ruleville, MS. Reverend John Howell, Jr. will officiate the service.

Pallbearers will be Heath Boyer, Blake Boyer, Troy Haney, and Mark Haney. 

Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Gary’s family during this difficult time.
