Ginger Dale Couey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ginger Dale Couey, who peacefully departed this life on June 13, 2023 at Walter B. Crooke Nursing facility in Ruleville, Mississippi. She was a cherished member of the Rosedale community for 79 years. Ginger was born to parents Nathan and Katy Davis Boak in Marks, Mississippi on August 2, 1943.

Ginger made a home in Rosedale with her beloved husband, Fred C. Couey whom she married on July 5, 1968. She devoted her life to caring for others as a homemaker, cook, and tender caregiver. Her culinary talents were renowned amongst friends and family- most notably her homemade dill pickles and the tomato gravy and biscuits that she generously shared with everyone around her. Besides cooking, Ginger found great pleasure in crocheting and gardening while staying up-to-date with her loved ones.

Ginger was a devout Christian who found salvation at the Pace Pentecostal Church where she built many strong relationships within its membership. She shall forever remain etched within our hearts as an embodiment of kindness and generosity that were constantly expressed through her actions towards those close to her.

Ginger was preceded in death by her mother Katie Davis Boak, father Nathan Boak, husband Fred Carl Couey, sister Anita Peyton, sons Bobby Skipper, Marvin Couey, Lawrence Couey, Claude Couey, Voyed Couey and Clyde Couey, and Victor Couey, and her special friend Lee Morgan whose memories remain treasured.

Ginger is survived by daughters Pam Couey Usery of Rosedale, Freddie Sue Couey Morgan of Rosedale & Patricia Skipper Rhodes of Fayetteville Arkansas; brothers Joe Boak (Lois) from Lafe, Arkansas , Aaron Boak (Peggy) from Tyronza, Arkansas and sister Sandra Collier from Truman, Arkansas along with nunerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Ginger was laid to rest at Beulah Cemetery in a private graveside service held on June 14, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. The arrangements were entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home.
