Girtrude Gilbert Usery

CENTERTON - Girtrude Gilbert Usery, age 93, of Centerton Arkansas formerly of Cleveland, Mississippi went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the Apple Creek Nursing & Rehab in Centerton. 
 
She was born on August 13, 1926, to Harvey Edward and Fannie (Clark) Gilbert in Grenada, Mississippi.  In 1944 she married Edward William Usery in Tutwiler, Mississippi.  Girtrude was an outstanding and loving mother and grandmother who made her life of raising and nurturing her children and grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Pace Pentecostal Church where she raised her children to know the Lord. She later attended the Church of Jesus in Skene, Mississippi where she supported her sons’ ministries. Later on in her life she attended the HOPE Church in Cleveland. Ms.Usery loved working in her flower beds, gardening and especially fishing with a cane pole! She was the unofficial “hospitality coordinator“ at each of the facilities she resided in; Providence Assisted Living and Apple Creek Nursing and Rehab where she made everyone feel loved and welcome. She loved the Lord, her family and the people she encountered and the love was returned to her.
 

Ms. Usery was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Fannie Gilbert, Husband, Edward William Usery, Son, William Ed Usery, Daughter Nancy Carol Usery, grandsons; Frank Eugene Usery, Jr., Shane Edward Usery, granddaughter, Ellen Beth Usery, Sisters; Beulah Mae Long, Neva Campbell and Lela Rogers, brothers; John Gilbert, Virgil Gilbert, Bob Gilbert, and Frank Gilbert, half-brothers; Oscar Gilbert, Will Gilbert and Clarence Gilbert.
 

A visitation will be held Friday, November 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland.  A celebration of her wonderful life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019,  at  1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be at the North Cleveland Cemetery. 

Reverend Crocket Kennedy, Rev. Larry Weaver, and granddaughter, Crystal Hamsher will lead us in the homegoing celebration. 
She is survived by son, Jerry Dean Usery of Harrison, AR.  Daughter, Carolyn Pauline (Tommy) Upton of Rogers, AR.  Son, Frank Eugene (Pat) Usery of Merigold, MS.  Son, Robert O'Neal (Sherry) Usery of Merigold, MS.  Son, Michael Scott (Janie) Usery of Harrison, AR.  Daughter, Judy Lynn (Jim) Bruce of Centerton, AR. 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and "grand children" she claimed as her own.
 

Pallbearers ushering her from the funeral home to the hearse are sons, Jerry Usery, Gene Usery, Robert Usery, Michael Usery, nephew, Howard Gilbert, grandsons, Kevin Usery, Randall Upton, and Robert Usery Jr. The pallbearers placing their Mamaw Usery over her gravesite will be grandsons, William Wade, Dewayne Wade, Jason Usery, Jeffery Bruce, Joshua Bruce, great-grandsons, Hayden Pearson, Tripp Ellis, and Colton Usery.
