Helen Wood Williams

HORN LAKE- Helen Ruth Wood Williams age 92 of Horn Lake, MS passed away peacefully at Landmark of Desoto Nursing home in Horn Lake, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Cleveland Funeral Home from 1:00PM till 2:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 2:00PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Andy Stoddard will officiate the service.

Mrs. Williams was born in Sunflower, MS in 1926 to James “Jake” and Alli Mae (Johnston) Wood and lived in the Mississippi Delta her whole life. Mrs. Williams lived in Cleveland from 1978 until the last few years when her heath declined. She spent many years in childcare both in her home and in daycares. She helped establish a daycare at her Boyle United Methodist Church and took great pride in watching all the children who most knew as “Nana”.

When she needed to enter a nursing home, she established herself there and was very happy. She made new friends and loved helping others, was very active with the everyday activities of the place and kept the nursing staff laughing with her quick wit. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her father and mother Jake and Allie Wood, husband, Thomas Sharp Williams, sister, Louise Maxwell, brothers, James Wood, Kenneth Wood, Johnston Wood.

She is survived by her children, Thomas S. Williams, Jr., Anita Williams Decastro (Cicero), Patricia Williams Trager (Ron), grandson Shawn Clift (Tammy), twin grandsons Ricky and Ronnie Williams.

Pallbearers are Mark Myers, Jimmy Killough, Mark Williams, and David Ledbetter.

Memorials can be made to Boyle United Methodist Church, in Boyle, Mississippi.
