Isaiah Keith Walker, aged 90, of Cleveland, MS peacefully passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the Pinnacle in Greenville, MS.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve Holtz and Reverend David Schauer will officiate the services. Keith will be laid to rest in the North Cleveland Cemetery.
Keith, affectionately known as Zerdie, was born on November 29, 1933, in Sunflower County MS. He received a master's degree in Accounting from Delta State University. Keith proudly served his country as a United States Navy Veteran. On April 9, 1953, he married Jeanne Raney. For 16 years, he shared his passion for accounting as an esteemed professor at Delta State and Mississippi Valley State Universities.
Keith possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and successfully established and managed numerous apartment complexes. He also engaged in various endeavors including farming and ag piloting. Music held a special place in his heart as he enjoyed singing. A true advocate for animal welfare, Keith dedicated himself to rescuing and maintaining a safe haven for countless animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Sidney Walker and Maude Braswell Walker; as well as his only son Thomas Ray Walker. Additionally, Keith is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Jeanne R. Walker of Cleveland, MS; daughter Kimberly Walker Nabors (Sherwyn) of Cleveland, MS; grandson John Cassibry (Bethany) of Cleveland, MS; granddaughter Jeanne Burns of Madison, MS; great-grandchildren John Carley Cassibry III, Cora Rice Cassibry, Walker Maddox Burns, Carley Ophelia Burns, and Claire Cassibry Burns. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers for the service will be John Cassibry, Johnny Cassibry, John Carley Cassibry III, James Walker, Bobby Walker, and Tony Hunter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clark Manning, Ronnie Walker, and Jessie Hutchinson.
The Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with the service arrangements.
