James "Jimmy" E. Alford age 77 of Cleveland, MS, passed away, Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Merigold, MS.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverends Fish Robinson, John Thomas, and David Horton will officiate the services.
Jimmy was born, on March 28, 1945, to James L. Alford and Wilma Fowler Alford in Merigold, MS. He graduated from Rosedale High School in 1963 where he was an outstanding athlete. He married Patricia Sherron in 1972. Jimmy worked with Bell South Telephone Company for 45 years as a crew manager along with various other duties. Jimmy loved his children and grandchildren, especially enjoying the time spent with them while fishing, hunting, and playing sports. He always enjoyed time spent with his friend's catfishing and hunting. Jimmy enjoyed working on projects fixing and repairing most anything. He made every effort to give back to his community, he was a Son's of the Confederacy, coached Dixie Youth Baseball teams, and did various other community projects. Jimmy was a member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed his time ministering on many mission trips. Jimmy loved his Lord, church, and church family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father James L Alford, mother Wilma Aycock, brother Frankie Alford (Barbara), and his nieces Wendy and Noelle.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia "Pat" Sherron Alford of Cleveland, MS; three sons; James F. Alford (Jodie) of Niceville, FL, Brian C. Alford (Gracie) of Biloxi, MS, Jake A. Alford (Nikki) of St Simons, GA; daughter, Jeanna A. Nichols (Tom) of Hernando, MS; sisters, Lynn Ralph (Clayton) of Indiana, Addie A. Jones (Don) of Indiana, Renee Wanker of Tennessee, brother, Richard Alford (Diana) of Alabama, 11 grandchildren, James Christopher Alford, Lindsey Alford Wisniewski, Ryan Alford, Brayden Alford, Julianna Alford, Mckailynn Alford, Myleigh Alford, Grey Nichols, Asher Nichols, Grant Alford, and Chapman Alford, two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Sawyer; nieces, Terri Lord, Donna Hulk, Jenny Egan, Trish Buckner, April Linville, and Evie Roberts and nephews, Chris Jones, Ty Alford, and Joey Alford.
Pallbearers are Dennis Bullock, David Hardin, Ryan Alford, Brayden Alford, Charles Turner, Donald Gant, and Bill Quinton.
Honorary pallbearers are the Men's 1 Sunday School Class.
