James "Son" Lamar Clemons

BENOIT- James Lamar "Son" Clemons age 83 of Benoit, MS passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at his home in Benoit.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Father Kent Bowlds will officiate the service.

Jim was born on August 13, 1938, in Grenada, MS to James Earl Clemons and Juanita Frances Chandler Clemons. He graduated from Benoit High School in 1957. After high school, he worked at Gypsum Industries until drafted into the United States Army.   James married the love of his life Judith Ann Morgan Mouton in Shaw, MS in 1961 they moved to Fort Sill in Lawton OK. After leaving the army he and Judy moved to Longshot to begin his career in farming. Throughout his lifetime he was a member of various civic organizations. One of his passions was the 4H where he loved spending quality time with his daughters helping them raise and show sheep. He was a gun enthusiast and an avid hunter. He was of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl and Juanita Frances Clemons, and Siblings, Barbara Ellen Clemons, Earl Wayne Clemons, Dorothy Faye Clemons, and Larry Gene Clemons, and grandchildren, Stuart Campbell, Jeffrey Plummer, and a very special sister-in-law Donna Clemons.

James is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Judy Mouton Clemons of Benoit, MS, Children; Jill Campbell of CoCo Beach FL, Amy Plummer of Cleveland, MS, Susie Clemons of Swink, CO, and Ginny Tindle of Boyle, MS, brother, Steve Clemons, sister, Linda Clemons Gray (Calvin), grandchildren; Hayley Horn Brooks (Matthew), Landon Tindle, Jamie Plummer, Chloe Campbell, Logan Tindle, Aubrey Plummer, Jenna Lewis, a great-grandson, Kanton Plummer and a host of nieces and nephews

Honorary pallbearers are Landon Tindle, Grant Clemons, Stevie Clemons, Brandon Clemons, Josh Clemons, and Gentry Boswell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Organization or the American Heart Association.
