James Curtis Williams

CLEVELAND - James Curtis Williams, age 82, of Cleveland, MS passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland.  A graveside funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in North Cleveland Cemetery.  Reverend Robert Haney and Kip Tyler will officiate the service. 

The funeral service will be live-streamed for those who may not be able to attend. Masks and social distancing will be in place for the visitation and graveside service. If inclement weather the service will move to the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.
 
James was born on February 06, 1938, to James Daniel and Nettie Lucille (Andrews) Williams in Cleveland, MS.  He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1956. He married Margie Baker on December 24, 1957, in Boyle MS.  While in high school James began his grocer career at the Blue and Gold Grocery, which later transformed into the Sunflower Grocery Food Store where he remained for 35 years. After leaving Sunflower he worked at Baxter laboratories for 12 years before his retirement. James loved to draw and teach his grandchildren how to draw, he enjoyed building dollhouses for Hannah and Austin and playing cards with his grandson Christopher. He also enjoyed building and making many different types of crafts. He was of the Baptist faith. James loved his family dearly and always enjoyed their company.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Lucille Williams, sisters, Danelle Williams Savage, and Era Nell Williams, and a son in law Robert Eugene Childress.

James is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margie Baker Williams of Cleveland, MS, daughter, Vickie Lynn (Steve) Williams Childress Bryant of Gainsville, MO,  daughter, Jamie Catherine (Allan) Williams Reynolds of Gulf Breeze, FL,  sister, Vera Williams Ware of Ruleville, MS, granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth (Austin) Childress VanCamp, granddaughter, Austin Rebecca (Brad) Childress Jefcoat,  grandson, Christopher Allan Reynolds of Gulf Breeze, FL. Four great-grandchildren Emery, Axel, Weston, and Desmond.

Pallbearers are Brad Jefcoat, Austin VanCamp, Frank Beach, Christopher Reynolds, James Forbes, Shawn Harris, Kip Tyler, and Bobby Ware Jr.

Honoarary Pallbearers are Allan Reynolds, Chet Norton, Tommy Barrett and Steve Bryant.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donors choice.
