CLEVELAND - Linda Jones Blaine, age 68, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at her home.
Visitation will be held from Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. A Celebration of Life service will Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Cleveland, MS. Reverend Brad Beckwith and Reverend Higdon Herrington will officiate.
Linda was born on December 27, 1949 to Robert and Georgia(Parks) Jones in Yazoo City, MS. She graduated Yazoo High School and continued her education at Delta State University where she received a Master in Education in 1972. She married Ernest Blaine on April 9, 1971 at Dockery Baptist Church. They lived in Ruleville, MS, Nashville, TN, St. Louis, MO and moved back to Cleveland in 2002. Linda was a school teacher for 45 years where she taught in Drew, MS, twice in Ruleville, MS, Nashville, TN, O'Fallon, MO, Cypress Park in Cleveland, MS, Bell Elementary in Boyle, MS and Parks Elementary in Cleveland, MS. Teaching was one of the most important parts of her life. No matter what the situation she always found the good side of a child that she taught. During the time she taught, she influenced some 850-900 children. Linda loved to play tennis, working with flowers in her garden, walking and exercising. She was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan, often able to give the stats on the players.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Madison Jones and Georgia Parks Jones and her sister Marsha Jones Foxworth.
Linda is survived by Spouse, Ernest Blaine of Cleveland, MS; Son, Brian(Danielle) Blaine of Des Moines, IA; Son, Christopher(Katherine Patterson) Blaine of Cleveland, MS; Brother, Robert "Bob"(Mary) Jones of Fayetteville, TN; Granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Jessie, Emma and Audry; Brother-in-law, Raymond Foxworth of Jackson, MS; Brother-in- law, Billy Griffin of Ruleville, MS; Sister in Law, Faye Griffin of Ruleville, MS.
Pallbearers will be Wylie Hilburn, D.L. Jones, Jr., Bobby Griffin, Brad Baughtman, Tommy Goodwin and Joe McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Foxworth, Robert "Bob" Jones, Raymond Foxworth, Pete Burnett, Butch Jenkins, Tommy Garner, Gary Hawthorne, Jerry Ainsworth, Harry Howarth, Tommy Taylor, John Oswalt, Marcie Mullins, Roy Weeks, James Vance, Vince Muzzi, Charlie Turner, Jimmie Kittrell, Tommy Naron, Blake Ferretti, Chet Norton, Tommy Barrett, Paul Lindsey, Bobby Guest, Cliff Cooper, Pittman Edwards, Doug Fisher and Jimmy Russell and all other Coffee shop coffee drinkers.
