Margie Baker Williams

CLEVELAND- Margie Baker Williams age 83 of Cleveland passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Gainesville Health Care Center in Gainesville, MO.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 Pm at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Live streaming on Facebook will take place for those unable to attend. Burial will be in the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Robert Haney will officiate the services.
Margie was born November 19, 1938, in Skene, MS. She graduated from Skene School in 1957. She married James Curtis Williams on December 24, 1957, in Boyle, MS and they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Margie was a devoted wife and mother. She loved people and served her community for 45 years at Cleveland State Bank. She also spent 20 of those years at Allan’s Family Shoes.

Margie, or “Granny” as she liked to go by, was an excellent cook and loved cooking with her grandchildren. She was well known for her buttermilk fudge at Christmastime. Granny enjoyed spending time with her family sharing stories of her youth and teaching her grandchildren important life skills such as shelling peas and tempering custard for the perfect banana pudding.


Margie loved being surrounded by family. She and James enjoyed traveling together and shared many vacations with their two girls. She also enjoyed traveling to visit her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Harold Baker and Sallie Alexander Baker, husband James Williams, brothers, Glen Baker, Melvin Baker, James Elton Baker, Bobby Baker, sisters, Mavis Baker Wooten, Arlene Baker Beach
and sisters-in-law, Era Williams, Danelle Savage, and son-in-law, Gene Childress.

Margie is survived by her daughters, Vickie Williams Childress Bryant (Steve) and Jamie Williams Reynolds (Allan). Sister Dorothy Baker Rizzo, Sister-in-law Vera Williams Ware.
Grandchildren Austin Childress, Hannah (Austin) VanCamp, Christopher Reynolds, Sam (Melissa) Bryant, Brandi (Connelly) Dunnerman, Cari Reynolds, Thomas Creekmore, Lyn McCarty, and Cheri Cummins.
Great-grandchildren, Emery, Weston, Axel, Desmond, Shae-lyn, Sawyer, Kevin, and Logan and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers are Chet Norton, Christopher Reynolds, Craig Sparks, Jimmy Rizzo, Austin VanCamp, Steve Bryant.

Honorary pallbearers are Brian McIntyre Allan Reynolds, Marshall Cole, Miller Ruth, James Forbes, and Frank Beach.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gainesville Health Center in Gainesville, MO, or Compassus Hospice in West Plains, MO.

Cleveland Funeral home is in charge of arrnagements.
