CLEVELAND - Martha Jane Polk Williams, age 89, of Cleveland formerly of Ruleville, Ms, passed away on Saturday July 25, 2015 at the Providence Personal Care Home in Cleveland.
Visitation will be held Sunday July 26, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Ruleville. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 PM in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary. Burial will be at the Lehrton Cemetery. Reverend Cory Lancaster will officiate the services.
Martha Jane was born on May 25, 1926 to Andrew and Sarah (Dale) Polk in Marion County, MS. She graduated from Columbia High School, attended Mississippi University School for Women and Graduated from Southern Mississippi University. Martha Jane married Edgar D. Williams on July 04, 1948 in Columbia, MS. She taught at Ruleville Elementary for 27 years. Martha Jane was a member of First Baptist Church Ruleville for over 67 years where she was also a member of the Sanctuary Choir. She was a member of the 20th Century Club and her Bridge Club. She also had a love for square dancing for many years.
She is survived by husband of 67 years, Edgar D. Williams of Cleveland, MS. Three sons; Dale (Debbie) Williams of Taylorsville, MS, Richard (Suzanne) Williams of Minter City, MS and Michael (Lisa) Williams of Tupelo, MS, Sister, Elizabeth Myers of Hattiesburg, MS. Grandchildren; Kristy Townley, Ed Williams, Jane Claire Williams, Lee Hodges, Andrew Williams, Jennifer Tenhet, Ann Elizabeth Cockrell and Sarah Williams. Great grandchildren; Brody Williams, Beau Williams, Tate Dubard, Sully Dubard, Michael Hodges, Cheney Hodges, Hallie Tenhet, Lauren Tenhet and special family; Butch (Elise) Jenkins and Pete (Sally) Barnett.
Pallbearers are Lee Hodges, Andrew Williams, Ed Williams, Will Cockrell, Chris Williams and Richie Tenhet.
