Maysie Elizabeth Yawn

DUNCAN - Maysie Elizabeth Shaffer Yawn, age 92, of Duncan , passed away on Sunday September 25, 2016 at her home. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Graveside service will immediately follow in the Shelby Cemetery.

Ms. Yawn was born on May 02, 1924 to Luther and Martha Lee Cummings Shaffer in Malvina, Mississippi. She married Elvin Levelle Yawn in 1941 and they moved to Ovalo, TX before moving back to MS in 1951 where they raised 7 children in the Mississippi Delta. She lived the last 50 years in the Hushpuckena community.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Lee Cummings Shaffer; her father, Luther Albert Shaffer; her husband, Elvin Levelle Yawn; her sisters, Ida Mae Redd, Arlene Barr and Ethel Mae Homer; her brothers, Roy Shaffer, John Powers, O.T. Shaffer and Obie Lee Shaffer; great grandsons, Brandon Yawn and Zachery Yawn.

Ms. Yawn is survived by Daughter, Peggy Sue (Oliver) Greenhaw of Merigold, MS.  Daughter, Margarette Lee Morgan of Coffeeville, MS.  Daughter, Patsy Ann (Donald) Sibley of Mathiston, MS.  Son, Elvin (Debra) Yawn of Clarksdale, MS.  Daughter, Maysie Deloris (Tristan) Harvey of Orofino, ID.  Son, Jesse E. (Kathy) Yawn of Adrian, GA.  Daughter, Sharon Pallerine of Oak Harbor, WA.  Sister-in-law, Dixie Shaffer of Skene, MS.  15 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 16 step-great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and 16 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Don Sibley, Brad Yawn, Jesse Yawn, Jr., Dwayne Yawn and Alan Sibley.

Memorials may be made to the church of your choice.
