Melvin Grant Murphree

Mr. Melvin Grant Murphree, age 81, of Ruleville, Mississippi, passed away on December 5, 2024, at Walter B. Crook Nursing Home.

Born on November 28, 1943, in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, Grant was the son of Albert and Dorothy Murphree and grew up in the Ruleville area. He was known for his love of cutting grass and painting, and he approached life with joy, generosity, and a delightful sense of humor. Grant cherished his time spent in church and had a special knack for playfully teasing those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several beloved family members, including Jenell Pollan, June Morgan, Tommy Murphree, and Betty Jo Crocker.

Grant is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly.

A graveside inurnment will be held at a later date. Cleveland Funeral Home is honored to assist Grant's family during this difficult time.
