Merry E. Smith, a beloved member of the community, passed away on May 23, 2024, at University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born in Shaw, Mississippi, on June 5, 1963, to John Willie Grimes and Helen Roberson Grimes.
Merry dedicated nine years of her life working as an RA Supervisor at Indywood Estates, where she touched the hearts of many with her kindness and dedication. She was a graduate of Pace Christian Academy and valued education throughout her life.
In her free time, Merry found joy in sewing, cherishing moments with her family, and spoiling her daughter Kasey Vestal and God-Daughter Enola Lowther. She had a special place in her heart for her dog Oscar and never hesitated to playfully complain about him. Merry also had a flair for dressing up elegantly in heels and dresses for every occasion.
Merry is Preceded in death by her husband Orville Pat White, and her parents John Willie, and Helen Grimes.
She is survived by her loving husband Donald Smith from Pace, Mississippi; devoted daughter Kasey Vestal from Sardis, Mississippi; cherished God-Daughter Enola Lowther from Indianola, Mississippi; five sisters; two brothers; a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Merry E. Smith will be remembered for her warm smile, caring nature, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Services to honor and celebrate Merry's life will be held on May 28, 2024, at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, Mississippi. A visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Rev. Crockett Kennedy will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be, Bradley Grimes, Tyler Weaver, Larry Weaver, Chuck Lowther, Chris Gentry, and Micheal Lucio. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of H.O.P.E. Church, and her great-nieces and nephews.
May she rest in peace knowing she was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
