Merigold - Grady Prewitt, age 100, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday June 22, 2015 at his home in Cleveland.
Visitation will be held Thursday June 25, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Morrison Chapel Baptist Church in Cleveland. Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 AM in the Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will be at the New Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend John Thomas and Reverend Carl Prewitt will officiate the services.
Mr. Grady was born one of ten children to Albert Cleveland and Pearl (Moore) Prewitt in Choctaw County, Mississippi. Mr. Grady grew up in the Delta, farmed in Merigold all his life. In 1937 he married Edna McKnight in Cleveland, MS. He was the oldest member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Grady was a generous, hardworking, loving man who enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing in his leisure time.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Cleveland and Pearl Prewitt, Wife of 48 years Edna McKnight Prewitt, Seven brothers and sisters; Elmer Prewitt, Dois Prewitt, Bea Prewitt, Roy Prewitt, Nell Malone, Alice Prewitt and Monroe Prewitt.
He is survived by Two Daughters, Carolyn Prewitt Hudson of Merigold, MS. and Brenda Prewitt Doherty of Galveston, TX. Five Grandchildren, Ten Great grandchildren Sister, Frances (Rodney) Shivers of Merigold, MS. and a Brother, A C Prewitt of Merigold, MS and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his Nephews; Justin Braswell, Jeffery Shivers, Brad Shivers, Ernie McKnight, Bern Prewitt, Jr., Bern Prewitt, Sr., and Eckward McKnight.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Morrison Chapel Baptist Church building fund 196 Morrison Chapel Rd. Cleveland, Ms 38732.
