BOYLE - Vernon Ray Petty, age 59, of Boyle, passed away on Thursday May 08, 2014 at the Bolivar Medical Center.
Visitation will be held Sunday 5/11/2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Funeral Services will be held Monday 5/12/2014 02:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Clarence Edwards will officiate the service.
Vernon was born on January 23, 1955 to William Luther and Katherine Laverne (Rudd) Petty in Hayti, Missouri. He married Evelyn Ruth Lawson Petty on October 17, 1975 in Pascola, MO. He was a former employee for DEH Trucking, Joe Reed Dirt & Gravel, Fironelli Farms, Mayflower Trucking, Brown and Sons Scrap Metal and the City of Cleveland. Vernon was a hard working loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors enjoying fishing, hunting and truck driving. He never met a Stanger and loved to help others anyway he could. Vernon will be missed greatly by his many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father William Luther Petty.
He is survived by wife of 38 years Evelyn Ruth Lawson Petty of Boyle, MS. Mother, Katherine Laverne Rudd Petty of Kennett, MO. Son, Steven Ray Petty of Cleveland, MS. Son, Ricky Dale Petty of Cleveland, MS. Daughter, Rachel Nicole Petty of Cleveland, MS. Son, Christopher Dewayne Petty of Caruthersville, MO. Sister, Maybell Pettygrew of Wardell, MO. Sister, Jo Katherine Ragan of Hayti, MO.
16 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Justin Lawson, John Hollings, Ricky Petty,Gary Rudd, Lance Gilbert and Joe Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Park, Brian Lawson and James Rudd.
