Nancy Moore Carpenter

Nancy Moore Carpenter, a resident of Cleveland, MS, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, at the Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland. She was 61 years old.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects to Nancy during the visitation hours beginning at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Dale Beaver and Presley Roberson officiating. Following the service, Nancy will be laid to rest at Lambert Memorial Cemetery.

Born on August 8, 1961, in Marks, MS to Grady and Mary Ella Goodnight Moore, Nancy attended Quitman County Schools. On August 27, 1977, she married Kenneth Carpenter in Hinchcliff, MS. They moved to Verona where she was a clerk with Woolworths before settling in Cleveland where she worked various jobs to help raise her three sons.

For the past twenty-eight years, Nancy worked as a pharmacy technician at Walmart where she assisted and cared for her patients. Her kind and compassionate nature made her a beloved figure at work.

Nancy's legacy extends far beyond her professional life though. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She had an open heart and welcomed strangers into her home with open arms. It was important for her to care for those around her and give back in whatever way possible. Affectionately called NooNoo by many, Nancy enjoyed cooking, gardening- especially growing beautiful flowers- sewing, and making crafts that she shared joyfully with her family who often referred to her for recipe ideas.

Inherently social, Nancy enjoyed storytelling, sharing jokes, puzzle-solving, and creating memories during parties or outings with loved ones.  Presently just living to spend more time with her sweet great-grandson who grabbed hold of her heart.

John Roberson, Keith Gentry, Greg Taylor, Dawson Herren, Randy Poynor, and Randy Little have been selected as pallbearers for Nancy's service.  Grandsons, Josh Poynor, Hunter Carpenter, and great-grandson Chance Mitchell Davis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
