Norman Lyons

Indianola--Norman "Moot" Moore Lyons, age 83, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Indywood Personal Care Home in Indianola.

Visitation will be Monday, July 16th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 17th at Cleveland Church of God. Burial will follow in the Shaw Cemetery. Rev. Greg Chamblee and Rev. Bob Lyons will officiate the services.

Moot was born on December 14, 1934 in Shaw, MS to G.D. Lyons and Lula Cockrell Lyons. He graduated from Shaw High School. He was married to Martha Jean Holly from June 22, 1956 until her death on February 15, 2014. Moot worked a number of years for the Federal Compress. In 1967, he moved back to the family farm to farm with his brother until 2002, at which time they retired from farming. Moot won many awards while farming. Moot was a member of Cleveland Church of God. He served on the Pastor's Council and as the Family Training Hour Director for a number of years. He also led Bible studies at Parchman. Moot loved to spend time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
Moot was preceded in death by his parents, G.D. and Lula Lyons; his wife, Martha Jean Holly Lyons and his sister, Luree Lyons Richardson.

Moot is survived by 2 daughters, Debra Lyons Fortenberry of Atoka, TN and Teresa (Keith) Lyons Spealman of Indianola, MS;
Grandchildren, Jonathan (Lauren) Fortenberry of Millington, TN, Kimberly Fortenberry of Nashville, TN, Brandon Spealman of Indianola, MS and Bradley Spealman of Indianola, MS; Great-grandson Drew Fortenberry of Millington, TN.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Fortenberry, Brandon Spealman, Bradley Spealman, Stan McGaugh, Davin Parker and Joey McGaugh.
