Peggy Joan Barrett, aged 92, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Bolivar Medical Center Long Term Care in Cleveland, MS.
Born on July 7, 1932, in Greenwood, MS to Walter and Gladys Barrett, Peggy had a fulfilling life dedicated to service and family. She completed her education at Greenville High School and further pursued studies at Belhaven College in Jackson, MS.
During her career in Civil Service spanning over 35 years, Peggy began her journey at the Greenville Air Force Base before transferring to Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, CO. She eventually retired in 1988 and relocated to Cleveland, MS to be closer to her beloved family.
A devout member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland for many years, Peggy actively participated in the Sunday School Department and took pleasure in organizing activities for the senior group The Marquerite Bolling Circle. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly.
Peggy is survived by her brother Walter T. (Tommy) Barrett Jr. of Cleveland, MS; nephews Walter Thomas Barrett III (Sheila), and James "Jimmy" Naron Barrett (Natalie); along with numerous great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Gladys Williford Barrett, sister-in-law Betty Barrett, and a nephew Ronny Barrett.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Cleveland Funeral Home followed by Funeral Services at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tim Starnes will officiate the services. Burial will then take place at North Cleveland Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bradley Barrett, Brent Barrett, Jace Smith, Bryce Rocconi, and Turner Wood.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS.
The care of Peggy's family has been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home during this difficult time. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
