Ruleville

Robert Ladelle McDaniel, age 84, passed away on April 1, 2025, at Walter B. Crook Nursing Home in Ruleville, MS.

Born on July 8, 1940, to Connie Frank McDaniel and Jewel Hood McDaniel in Sunflower County, MS, Robert graduated from Moorhead High School. He embarked on a career in the Auto Parts business, traveling to various locations, including Memphis and Birmingham. On December 5, 1968, he married his beloved wife, Sandra Jean Hutchinson. Robert later worked at Delta Hardware in Cleveland for many years as a salesman. Alongside his brother Ronnie, he founded R & R Construction, which was instrumental in building many homes and businesses in the area and beyond.

In his retirement, Robert cherished spending time in the garden with his daughter, Angie, and son-in-law, Henry, where he proudly took on the role of the "Boss." He found joy in fishing, traveling with Jean, and engaging with his church family. A long-time member of the Cleveland Church of God, Robert volunteered for numerous community projects and played a significant role in the construction of the MAC Building, which honors his contributions.

Robert was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 56 years, Sandra Jean Hutchinson McDaniel; his sons, DeWayne Clevenger and Sydney Ladell McDaniel; and his siblings, Dot Holbrook, Martha Tyson, Florence Gainspoletti, Connie Ruth Ray, Henry McDaniel, Ronnie McDaniel, and Larry McDaniel. He is survived by his daughter, Angie Gregory (Henry) of Cleveland, MS; his son, Troy McDaniel of Sheffield Lake, OH; daughter-in-law, Beverly Lorance Clevenger of Greenwood, MS, and sisters Jewel "Dolly" Ruth of Louisville, MS, and Linda M. Smith of Cleveland, MS. Additionally, he leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Clayton Gregory (Miranda), Leah Johnson (Brandon), Robbie McDaniel, and Mary Slay McDaniel, along with four great-grandchildren: Piper Johnson, Asher Johnson, Sawyer Johnson, and Violet Gregory, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will treasure his memory.
