CLEVELAND- Rodney Lynn Ray age 68 of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral service will follow at 11:00 in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Delta heights Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Reverend Chris Gentry will officiate the services.
Due to restrictions from the COVID-19 social distancing will be practiced and masks will be worn for all services.
Rodney was born April 23, 1952, to Floyd and Oler McCool Ray in Cleveland, MS. He attended Cleveland Schools. Rodney, as a teenager, worked at the Quickie Hamburgers before going to work with his father in carpentry. He moved to Gonzalas, Louisianna for a while and worked as a foreman for a construction company. Later in life, he moved back to Cleveland and worked with his brother-in-law in construction before his retirement. Rodney loved to build porches and woodworking craft items, he enjoyed working in the yard as well as spending time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Oler Ray, sister Joyce Weeks, brother Milton Ray, nephew Tony Caswell, and two nieces, Sandra Ray and Barbara Ann Babbit.
Rodney is survived by his daughter Christy (Jimmy) Stockton of Chatsworth, GA, Grandchild, Nevaeh Stockton of Chatsworth, GA, three sisters, Shirley Morris of Cleveland, TN, Barbara (Charles) Blaylock of Cleveland, MS, Brenda Ray of French Settlement, LA, and a brother Raymond Ray (Mary Alice) of Cleveland, MS. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Brittany Runnels,RN with Adoration Home Health for her love and care during Rodney's illness.
