Rona Sue Lowery Powell, age 73, of Cleveland, MS, passed away peacefully at her home on August 30, 2024.
Born on May 30, 1951, to Willie and Mary Lee Hill Lowery in Cleveland, Rona was a proud lifelong resident and attended local schools. Her professional journey included several years with Baxter Laboratories and a dedicated role in the community, where she provided cleaning services for families in the area. Rona had a passion for cooking, enjoyed maintaining a tidy home, and loved to spend time watching game shows. An avid cat lover, she was known for her generous spirit and willingness to help anyone in need. Above all, Rona cherished her family deeply.
Rona was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary Lee Lowery; her son, Ricky Robinson; her daughter, Chessica Powell; her sister, Nina Hubbard; and her brother, Rusty Roy Martin. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Greg Powell; her son, Adam Powell; her daughters, Pamela Brown and Kellie Smith; her sister, Diane Cobb; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Cleveland Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Greg Chamblee will officiate the service, with burial to take place in Merigold Cemetery.
The pallbearers will include John Cobb, Jason Martin, Shane Martin, Tommy Smith, Donnie Fleming, and Jeff Dill.
The family appreciates the support they have received and wishes to express their gratitude to Cleveland Funeral Home for the compassion shown during this difficult time. Rona’s memory will forever be cherished by all those who knew and loved her.
