Sallie Lou Brewer

CLEVELAND - Sallie Lou Summers Brewer, age 88, of Cleveland, MS passed away on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at her home.

Visitation will be held Saturday December 3, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 4th at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Drew Cemetery. Rev. Greg Chamblee & Rev. Joel Hammonds will officiate the services.

Sallie was born on August 08, 1928 to Lazarus and Mary (Wilson) Summers near Ruleville, MS. She was a 1946 graduate of Ruleville High School.  She married Davis McClain Brewer, Sr. on October 29, 1946 at the Pilgrim's Rest Church of God near Doddsville, MS. Sallie was a former telephone operator before going to work with Baxter Healthcare upon their opening. Sallie retired from Baxter Healthcare as a Quality Control Technician after 42 years of service. She was a member of the Cleveland Church of God where she had served as church clerk and Sunday School teacher. Sallie was a very faithful member and kept her family in church. She was a faithful media church member of Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, LA for the last 7 years. Sallie loved to drink black coffee, loved to cook for her family as well as sewing and studying her Bible. She also loved to travel and bargain hunt with her sister Lillie. Sallie loved gardening--especially roses. Sallie loved her family & enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and took them to the Ruleville pool.  Sallie was generous and unselfishly gave to family, church and friends. She was just a phenomenal person.

Sallie was preceded in death by her parents Lazarus Earl Summers and Mary Dell Wilson, her Brother William S. (Sonny) Summers, her sister Edna Porter, her son-in-law Mike Lazar as well as her 2 great-grandchildren Ruby & River Lazar.

Pallbearers will be Nick Lazar, Brian Brewer, Shannon Brewer, Jonathan Brewer, Joshua Moss & Cade Brewer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Waldrup & Paul Riddell.

Sallie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Davis McClain Brewer, Sr of Cleveland, MS;  Son, Davis McClain Brewer, Jr of Picayune, MS;  Daughter, Sandra Lazar of Cleveland, MS;  Sister, Margarette Mitchell of Madison, MS;  Sister, Lillie Smith of Drew, MS;  Sister, Mary Ellen Riddell of Benton, AR., 8 grandchildren & 15 great-grandchildren.
