Sylvia Jean Ferguson age 80, of Merigold, Mississippi formerly of Shaw, Mississippi passed away peacefully at the Bolivar Medical Center Longterm Care unit on May 18, 2024.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 5:00- 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Merigold Cemetery in Merigold, Mississippi. John Ferguson will officiate the services.
Sylvia was originally born in Simpson County, Mississippi to Mr. Ruben Sylvester Craft and Mrs. Edna Mae Harold Craft. She attended Simpson County Schools upon finishing eleventh grade she married the love of her life Mr. Willie Ferguson on September 16, 1961, in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She worked as a homemaker for several years, when they moved to Shaw in 1971 she worked at Ludlow Textiles in Indianola for years, when she retired from there she went back to working as a homemaker helping raise her kids and grandkids. Sylvia loved to fish, work in her flower garden, and care for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sylvia will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Craft, Edna Craft, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and her son Tommy Ferguson Sr., and great-grandchild Hunter Burchfield.
She leaves behind her spouse of 62 years Mr. Willie Jay Ferguson of Merigold, Mississippi, Daughters Sheila Diane Roncalli (Frankie) of Shaw, Mississippi, and Wanda Jean Huskey of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Jessica Morales (George) of Cleveland, Mississippi, Son Jason Craft of Senatobia, Mississippi. Grandchildren, Tommy Ferguson Jr. (Amber), Rachel Belk, Austin Smith, Nelson Smith, Glenn Allen, Carlyn Bowles, Joaquin Morales, and a host of great, and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a special daughter in law, Denyse Ferguson.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Ferguson Jr., Austin Smith, Ryan Smith, Glenn Allen, Jason Craft, and Roy Willis Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jorge Rodriguez, Gardner McDaniel, Terry Allen, and Wilburn Lee.
Cleveland Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
