Theresa Mixon

BOYLE - Theresa Rizzo Mixon, age 83, of Boyle, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the South Sunflower Medical Center in Indianola.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Graveside funeral services will follow in the New Cleveland Cemetery. Father Kent Bowlds will officiate the service.

Theresa was born on January 18, 1936, to Tony Rizzo, Sr. and Concetta Gagliardi Rizzo in Cleveland, MS.  She attended Cleveland Schools.  She married James William Mixon on August 25, 1952, in Cleveland.  She was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Theresa was a special person.  She loved crafting, rescuing treasures, and collecting many things such as antique glassware. She was a caregiver to many throughout her life but especially her niece, Maria Pullen for the past seven years. To know Theresa was to love her and there were many who did. If someone had a story to tell or a problem that needed fixing, she was there to lend an ear.  She never met a stranger and could connect to anyone.  Theresa loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony Rizzo, Sr. and Concetta Gagliardi Rizzo, her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Beverly Mixon, and grandson, Blake Downs. She was also preceded in death by nine siblings, Phillip Rizzo, Jimmy Rizzo, Dominic Rizzo, Tony Rizzo, Jr., Josephine McCallister, Louise Miller, Ann Pullen, Rosa Hutchinson, and Mary Rhodes.

Theresa is survived by daughter, Janice Mixon (Larry) Downs of Indianola, MS, six grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Mixon, Adam (Ashley) Mixon, Lindsey Mixon Massey, Anna (David) Williams, Silas Griffith, and Charles (Mary Kat) Downs, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are grandsons Adam Mixon, Brandon Mixon, Charles Downs, and David Williams.
