SKENE - Thomas Gerald Stanford, age 65, of Skene, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at his home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Keith Bolen will officiate the services.
Gerald was born on October 04, 1949 to Carl "Buddy" and Nettie "Peggie" (Griffith) Stanford in Cleveland, MS. He graduated from Shaw High School in 1968 and Mississippi Delta Community College in 1971.
He married Tolitha "Tollie" Nichols Stanford on December 21, 1969 in Belzoni, MS. Gerald was known to his friends as "Butter Bean". He was an Agriculture pilot for 29 years and the owner of Stanford Flying Service for 34 years. Gerald was a hard worker who was known as a great cook and gardener, loving to share what he had made with others. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. In the last several years, he became an accomplished woodworker, but most importantly he loved spending time with his five grand-daughters. Gerald was a member of Skene Baptist Church and the Mississippi Agriculture Aviation Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl T. "Buddy" Stanford.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Tolitha "Tollie" Stanford of Skene, MS. Daughter, Tina and husband Chris Litton of Hattiesburg, MS. Son, Christopher and wife Libba Stanford of Marshall , MO. Mother, Nettie "Peggie" Stanford of Cleveland, MS. Sister, Brenda and husband Randy Bounds of Huntsville, AL. Two brothers, Bobby and wife Sylvia Stanford of Skene, MS, and Rickie and wife Betty Lou Stanford of Skene, MS. Five precious grand-daughters; Abby and Sarah Litton, Kathryn, Glory and Grace Stanford.
Pallbearers are Rick Stanford, Jared Flowers, Wayne Bardwell, Ryan Redditt, William Roberts, Chad Smith, Scott Bounds, and Kevin Bounds. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Naron, Murray Litton, Jerry Van Namen and Bill Redditt.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
