Tony Ray McCollum age 64 of Greenwood, MS passed away Thursday, October 9, 2024, at Meritt Health Center in Jackson, MS.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Cleveland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in North Cleveland Cemetery. Reverend Michael Mooneyham will officiate the service.
Tony was born January 11, 1960, in Shaw, Mississippi, to James W. McCollum and Ruth Parish McCollum Cates.
Tony attended Cleveland and Pace, MS, schools in the special education department. He was known as a loving, kind-hearted person who never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. Tony enjoyed playing dominos and cards with his family and friends. His potato chips and Coke Zero were the highlights of each day. Tony had been a resident of Beacon Harbor for the past 18 years and was a member of the Greenwood Church of God.
Preceding him in death are his father, James William McCollum, stepfather, Monroe Cates, and nephews Ronnie Willet, II and John Edward Peacock. Tony is survived by his mother Ruth McCollum Cates of Cleveland, MS, 9 siblings Bill McCollum (Stella) of Braxton, MS, Shirley Turner of Boyle, MS, Bonnie Willett of Cleveland, Ms, Patsy Flautt (Jim) of Carrollton, MS, David McCollum (JoAnn) of Cleveland, MS, Judy Wasson (Jim) of W. Monroe, LA, Rocky McCollum (Marie) of Hardy, AR, Penny Jones of Biloxi, MS, and Kenneth McCollum (Theresa) of Evening Shade, AR. Step-siblings, Greg Cates, Robert Cates, Kim Lawson, Kathy Lewellen, and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves special friends and caregivers Molly Estes and Katy Austin.
Pallbearers are his nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are his friends at Beacon Harbor, Chris Carter, Darryll McCalla, Paul Riser, and Jack Lishman, Jr.
