With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Tony Harold Skellion on August 5, 2024. Tony was born on August 2, 1964, in Cleveland, Mississippi. He touched the lives of many through his various roles and passions throughout his life.
Tony began his career in plumbing before dedicating 24 years of service to MDOT. Following his time with MDOT, he joined WastePro for several years. He also served as a security guard at Delta State and Cleveland High School football games as a security guard. Tony volunteered as a special deputy for the Bolivar County Sheriff's Office and was an esteemed member of the Bolivar County EOC, contributing to K-9 search and rescue operations.
Outside of work, Tony loved stock cars and NASCAR racing. He found joy in helping others whenever he could and had a talent for singing that brought happiness to those around him.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife Marsha Sue Hatcher Skellion of Cleveland, MS; son Tony Harold Skellion Jr., "TJ" of Cordova, TN; sisters; Linda Havens (Bill) of Boyle, MS; Brenda Skellion of Boyle, MS; Kay Baldwin (Mark) of Cleveland, MS; sister -in-laws, Wanda Caswell of Boyle, MS, Brenda Berryhill of Eupora, MS, and brother-in-laws, Jamie Hatcher of Boyle, MS and Robert Bingham of Eupora, MS. A host of nieces and nephews including Holly, Adam, Josh, Kim, Tyson, Brianna, Talia, Tyler, Randy, Krystal, Jamie Brook, Tanner, Ryan Thomas, Adam Carson and Tyler Jase, and other extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his father Harold Thomas Skellion, his mother Evie Jean Creel, and his sister Joyce Skellion.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Cleveland Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Chris Gentry will officiate the services.
Tony will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing that he has left behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will be cherished forever.
