CLEVELAND - Virginia Hees Turner, age 85, of Merigold, MS passed away on Wednesday January 20, 2021 at the Indywood Estates in Cleveland, MS.
Virginia was born on February 18, 1935 to Charlie and Bernice (Hughes) Hees in Benoit, MS. She graduated Benoit High School in 1953. Virginia was very involved in farming and cattle with her father. She went to work for the United States Postal Service and retired after 35 years of service. She then moved to Cleveland in 2001 with her husband Freddie to live next door to her grandchildren and she had once stated that she was happier than she had ever been. She loved working in her yard, horses, cattle and cooking. Her specialty was baking. She was all about family, enjoying each moment she had with them. She was a lifetime member of Benoit Union Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Bernice Hess, husband Freddie Turner who died in 2017.
Virginia is survived by her son, Jonathan (Amy) Vance of Cleveland, MS, granddaughter, Hees Vance (Ty) Holder, grandson, Seth McGee (Peyton) Vance and a great granddaughter Kathryn Turner Norquist.
A graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, MS. Reverend Robert Haney will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to St Jude Children's Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38501 or Benoit Union Church P O Box 21 Benoit, MS 38925.
